33rd IChO – Gold Medalist

The International Chemistry Olympiad was the most significant aim during the high school years. The competition was held in Mumbai, India on July, 2001. More than 200 students from about 50 countries participated in the competition. It was the first overseas trip for me, thus participating itself impressed me very much in many aspects.

Besides, I was the gold medalist from the competition. (In fact, gold medal is given to the top 10% scorer, not to the top ranker only. I was ranked as the 9th place.) The award announcement was progressed from lower to higher rank, so it was one of the most nervous moment in my life to await to hear my name.
