3D Character Control

My job in the team was controlling the 3D animation appearing in the LCD monitor. It was able to make two kinds of facial movement. One was moving lips, the other was making facial expression. The lip movement was created by combination of five preset vowel movement, and the facial expression was based on the five emotional elements; happiness, sadness, anger, surprise and disgust. The interfaces for creating such movements are presented below.

The program was coded using MFC (Microsoft Foundation Class), and I fixed some problems the character had had when I assumed my part of the whole project.

Electronics Fair

Based on this head robot, we set up the main concept of the robot as “Emotional Kiosk for Exhibition” for the annual intramural electronics fair. You can see some pictures taken in the event in the “School Electronics Fair” page of the “Awards & Honors” section. We won the bronze prize in the competition with this robot.
